Escaping Cringe Posts and Echo Chambers
A digital detox involves taking a deliberate break from screens and devices. It helps lower that nasty stress, ramps up your focus, and gives you a wee bit of balance in a world choc-a-bloc with constant notifications.
A lot of people feel overwhelmed with phones and social media, and a lot of others are also feeling maxed out, but fail to see that it's as a result of their online habits. Research from a bunch of smartarses shows that even wee detoxes "can lower anxiety, boost sleep quality, and enhance overall well-being." (Their poncey words).
I used to think advice like that was daft. But, like many other things in my own life experience, I learnt at a later date that it was me that was daft for not paying attention to good advice.
Usual.
Anyway, you don't need to chuck technology forever. Start aff wee and build up habits that work for you.
Here's a few ways that are pretty smart.
Set clear boundaries
Start by switching off notifications or using your phone's "do not disturb" mode during certain hours. Create phone-free zones in the house, like at your dinner table (if you've got one) or in your room.
A digital detox isn't about rejecting technology. We'd never be encouraged to do something that. Otherwise, how else would the powers-that-be ever manage to beam their constant subliminal crap right into our nappers? Lol. 🤪👈
It's about using technology mindfully so it serves you, rather than the other way about. Taking back control. (Where have we heard this before?) Anyway, experiment with this pish and find out what suits you best.
